King's Plasma Cascade Discharge Bomb

Both USA and USSR have been working on EMP weapons, and they all come up with wither conventional (coil, capacitor, electric discharge) or nuclear methods of producing an EMP. King Yarl has used his Adiabatic Cannon at his own High Energy Physics Institute to process krypton-containing kleistonite, aluminum and carbon to produce an explosive that is at least 5-10 times more powerful than TNT, produces hellish shock wave, an incredible EMP, and zero nuclides or radiation.

From what I found out on U6 web (education@public@kshepi), is this 2-shot process:

Shot 1: a target of pure dry ice (carbon dioxide) is shot with a slug of Aluminum Hydroxide, in the adiabatic cannon using a 2 to 5 ton high explosive charge, producing a solid Aluminum Carbide (Al4C3), just the kind that is found in cyalith.

Shot 2: At the National Accelerator Complex, a target of finely powdered cyalith, especially the kind that is high in deuterium, is bombarded with a series of particle beams ( of unknown sequence) of D2O deuterium water, xenon, lead, and magnesium alloy, resulting in a stressed latticed dispersion of xenon, and lead deuteroxide.

particle-accelerator bombardment of cyalith with deuterium, xenon, lead and magnesium

The two targets are kept well-separated from each other, and in a well-grounded container.

The principle behind the explosive potential is unlike the critical mass that is necessary for nuclear fission of isotopes.

What causes the explosion of hellish electric discharge is the third shot, when the two targets are fired at each other as quickly and snugly as possible. The Electron-rich xenon, packed too close for comfort into the cyalith homogeneous lattice, exerts repulsive interatomic pressure on lead and Aluminum Carbide, both in a structured but superstressed unstable lattice state. Further lattice formation is impossible, causing a massive oscillation of electrons that hit against deuterium and lead, and, soon thereafter, all these atoms become jarred till they start shedding their electrons, becoming ionized to a plasma state, and attempting to recapture any electrons around. The electrons have been expelled by deuterium into the surroundings, forming an electron cloud, destabilizing atoms of nitrogen, carbon and oxygen in the air, short-circuiting the air and ground, and in the result producing a flash, then a positive lightning of one stroke(in weapons over 600 kg (approximately 7 KT TNT equivalent), and a third, large flash.

Understandably, when shot out of a military weapon, the two targets cannot be juxtaposed, since it would lead to an immediate detonation inside the barrel. Instead, the targets are microencapsulated and dispersed with high explosive powder.

In missiles and dropped ammunition the targets are juxtaposed just like in a gun-type nuclear device.

The extremely destructive explosion produces little or no mushroom cloud, and low amounts of clouds of dust and debris.

When exploded in a rainy, wet weather, the device produces a more powerful first flash, and a weaker third flash.
Exploded underground, the device produces a lightning bolt, and a destructive third flash that excavates a deep crater.
Exploded in midair the weapon causes a minimal first flash, a powerful lightning strike, and an extremely powerful large flash.
Underwater explosions create a extreme energy discharge in the form of a shock wave.

Characteristics of this EMP (plasma cascade discharge, particle-discharge, Ударно-волновой излучатель) explosive:

Peak electric field of the first flash 100,000-1 million volts/meter
Peak electric field of the lightning 50,000-100,000 volts/meter
Peak electric field of the large flash 12-30 billion volts/meter

Speed of the first flash 50-100 km/s
speed of lightning 300-400 km/s
speed of the large flash 60-90 km/s

temperature of the large flash 4-6 billion Cenigrade
lightning current - at least 400-500 kA
voltage, depending on terrain, air and detonation height - 1-3 teravolts
pressure towards the end of the last flash 2-3 billion atm

King Yarl's Biography

King Yarl (Kjoning Gyarl) was a true renaissance man and polymath: he was a statesman, a politician, a scientist, a national leader, a physicist, a chemist, a geologist, an archeologist, an engineer and an inventor.

He was also a highly organized hobbyist who had time to enjoy collecting coins, gems, stamps, and growing flowers. King Yarl is also one of the most socially connected persons, having met prominent personalities from almost four generations, many countries, most professions and political activities, and members of same families throughout different time periods.

He was also a hyperglot, speaking fluently 4 Attlandian languages, English, German, French, Spanish, Italian, Swedish, Norwegian, Icelandic, Danish, Esperanto, Japanese and Hebrew. He also was proficient in reading and writing Russian, Polish, Portuguese, Greek, Latin and Chinese.

His father's death coincided with the death of the late Prince Gustav Adolf, Duke of Västerbotten and Princess Sibylla of Saxe-Coburg and Gotha (family line unrelated to the King Yarl’s lineage), the father of the present king of Sweden, in an airplane crash outside Copenhagen, Denmark, on 26 January 1947.

Formative years and education

King Yarl was born Yarl Hrothgar in his parents’ royal apartments in the Koningsborg Fortress. His parents, King Ethelgar and Queen Feyli, enjoyed their status as the richest individuals in the world, owning wealth amassed throughout the last 3 centuries that was well invested and grew to over $20 billion, the exact amount is unknown due to the very private status of royal affairs and businesses.

His father was the administrator of the family’s fortunes through running a gold and currency bank which used to be the Attland’s Central Bank, and has been relegated to be his own private enterprise. He generously gave to philanthropic causes and arts, in partnership the help of his wife, who was an art lover and critic, and together they built up quite an impressive collection of sculptures and paintings, as well as attracting top talent opera singers and ballet stars. The couple owned and bequeathed to their son their collection of art and precious objects which includes 8 Faberge eggs, the original prepublication manuscript of Eugene Onegin that has the famous lost chapter,

The parents spared no money and resources on their son. The most gifted and professional tutors were employed to raise prince Yarl. Since 5 years of age he already enjoyed stories of adventure and science, especially that of US President Franklin, who had become one of his ideals.

His father loved to take his family on vacation in US and Europe, where he owned several residences (New York, Snowmass in Colorado, Paris, London, Berlin, the island of Capri, Nice, and at about this age while on a trip to Germany, in the middle of the war, his father took his son to meet Kaiser Wilhelm II.

At 9 years of age the prince already owned simple instruments for demonstration of electricity, and the most expensive of professionally made telescopes available at the time. He also owned a collection of cowboy paraphernalia that included a Yellowboy lever action rifle that he fired at the palace gun range located in the back of the palace (now one of private gardens enclosed deep within the modern Royal Palace complex) while wearing ear muffs designed especially for him.

At about this age he grew fascinated with electricity, as a result of reading the accounts of Benjamin Franklin’s experiments with lightning. The prince soon showed interest in storing or reproducing the electricity for use in electrical motors. At about 10 years of age he displayed many talents for mathematics and physics, and started to build his own models of electrical motors, and combinations of flash bulbs, capacitors and other electrical components. He also started to experiment on interactions of electricity with heat, fire, magnets and gases.

The prince quickly aced the standard high school curriculum at the Miklasgard College Junior School, and excelled on his graduation equivalency exams, receiving the only low grade of B in Greek Drama, below his A average of the rest of the courses. At this time he entertained his family by decorating his room with his home-made (what may have been the first) fluorescent and neon lights; and during family picnics by cooking hot dogs and skewered meat with electric current.

At Copenhagen 1921-1924 he researched deuterium and discovered heavy water together with Harold Urey (who was credited with the 1933 discovery)

…has worked for the RAND Corporation And afterwards at Sperry Rand producing the company's first digital computer, SPEEDAC, in 1953.

He went on the safari with E. Hemingway in the fall of 1933 to Mombasa, Nairobi, and Machakos in Kenya, moving on to Tanzania, where he hunted in the Serengeti, around Lake Manyara and west and southeast of the present-day Tarangire National Park.

How the Royal bank rakes in the money

I read the news and still have the picture of world economies in depression and stock markets in shambles. Here in Attland I have hard time relating to these news, since the national economy is growing according to a controlled, braked speed.

The situation is undeniable rosy at the Koborg Corporation and its Koborg Bank. Ever since the Queen divested Koborg of broadcasting and oil production, and privatized completely the corporation, she has used a very conservative management strategy. The Koborg Bank is famous for an extremely minimal involvement in stock markets. The Queen employs teams of experts in NYC, London, Tokyo, at the Koborg Bank headquarters right outside and east of Kingstad, and at her palace's business offices, and these teams are the ones that keep steering the Koborg's corporate and banking investments in options, futures and forex trading.

There isn't much to be made in forex now, given the average investor's lack of information on real-time trends of major currencies. However, given the combined expertise of the Queen's teams, and the amassed volume of US Dollars, euro, Swiss frank, yen, and lively gold trade she still manages to come out making profit, during these very times when the leading billionaires and investment gurus (Warren Buffet) are losing money.

Another indication is the scores of foreign bankers and investment managers who have come to Miklasgard, almost cold turkey, to cajole anyone at Koborg to entertain the idea of investing in yet another short or long opportunity.

Koborg Bank, meanwhile, does not budge from the business formula that the Queen has developed since her space trip. The Bank deals only in underwriting, insuring, and managing bond issues, options, and, most lucratively, insuring central bank deposits of many countries (which is an uncomfortable competition to the IMF and World Bank), as well as retirement funds.

The Two Unique Minerals

Two minerals that are unique to Attland are a combination of other more famous minerals and several metals. These minerals are Cyalith and Kleistonite (Kryptonite), the only minerals known to contain noble gases, deuterium, gold and platinum in lattice structures and significant amounts. King Yarl has discovered their unique non-molecular, homogenous lattice structure.

Since the island of Attland lacks any limestone and chalk, and for that matter, any deposits found in Carboniferous and Cretaceous layers (the Cretaceous layer is considered to be missing on the island), any calcium of the island is locked into the crystalline structure of these two minerals.

Cyalith
(blue-turquoise, homogenous rock, sometimes magnetic) contains Sodium, Calcium, Potassium, Magnesium, Aluminum silicates, Cobalt, Nickel, various metals, as well as
-Xenon (free, and as Xenon deuterate and
XePtF6,the only natural platinum fluoride complex of xenon ) which contributes to the cyan-blue tinge of cyalith, deuterides (-OD)n, heavy water (di-deuterium oxide) in addition to these common minerals:

Hauyne (Na,Ca)8(AlSiO4)6(S,SO4,Cl)1-2 ,
Beryl Be3Al2(SiO3)6
Hibonite, also found in meteorites and in Madagascar, (Ca,Ce)(Al,Ti,Mg)12O19
Silicon Nitride Si3N4
the most unique chemical found naturally is Aluminum Carbide Al4C3
Zircon ZrSiO4
yellow Titanite CaTiSiO5
yellow-blue dots Allanite Ca(Ce,La,Y,Ca)Al2(Fe2+,Fe3+)O(SiO4)(Si2O7)(OH)
Kleistonite (or Kryptonite)
is a brown to yellow rock resembling granite, with variations of red in the form of striations, granules, or eyes, sometimes translucent, contains krypton, iridium, gold and platinum, and these minerals which contribute to its yellowish tinge.
tephraxine Mn3Al2(O2)(Si2O7)
(the olivine group) which includes tephroite (Mn2SiO4),
monticellite (CaMgSiO4), and kirschsteinite (CaFeSiO4).
ruby-like Spessartine Mn3Al2(SiO4)3
yellowish Iridolith (similar to synthetic Vasca complex IrCl(CO)[P(C6H5)3]2): IrCl(CO)(PAl3C)
Elsmorite WO3·0.5(H2O)
Argyrodite, silver germanium sulfide Ag8GeS6
Rhodochrosite MnCO3

Animals

Attland is called the Little Australia for its unique plant and animal life.

Isolated from the main continent, Attland's plants and animals have evolved into unique species so that scientists describe it as an alien paradise on Earth. The endemic animals of Attland are:
  • are all small, no bigger than a domestic cat
  • only 6 species of mammals: the tiger cat, bats, tarsiers, monkeys, hyraxes and shrews
  • many bats and tarsiers are uniquely marsupials, some having unusual adaptations as marsupials (dental formula, reproductive system)
  • mammals are greatly outnumbered by thousands of species of birds, insects, mollusks, reptiles, amphibians, and fish
  • many birds are non-flying
  • predators are terrestrial and small: the tiger cat, lizards, beach crab, and the large bats,
  • there are no poisonous animals
  • no apex predators
  • there are no snakes
  • there are no endemic pigeons or sparrows, their niches filled by similar parrots;
  • many flightless parrots
  • Northern (white) albatross, the only albatross of the North Atlantic;
  • contain the only habitat of North American monkeys;
  • most aquatic life migrate between sea and the 2 rivers, including river sharks and dolphins
  • many fish are air-breathing, except the catfish
  • no migratory birds
some of the most interesting animals are:
  • Spinner spider, produced by the spiders dependent on lilac bees which feed on nectar lily juice, muell and mulberry tree flowers.
  • Lilac bee honey, a bee that has many characteristics of a bumble bee
  • Flying monkeys, troll- or gremlin bats: marsupial bats, especially the large species found in the Chasm
  • pigeon quail
  • marsupial hyrax and shrews
  • several types of birds having an egg pouch: canaries, mousebirds and hummingbirds
  • marsupial tarsiers, the only marsupial primates
  • bush babies, which are regular, placental tarsiers,
  • monkeys
  • Ornimegalonyx oteroi - large, long-legged owl that lives and hunts on the ground, uses wings to reach higher branches
  • air-breathing fish vaguely related to bettas, and having mammalian carnivore dentition
  • river sharks and dolphins
The animal world of Attland is unique from other isolated environments because it does not exhibit island gigantism. Another unique feature of the animals world is an unusually large number of marsupial species, and the absence of large or apex carnivores. The island also lacks snakes.

  • large marsupial bats, some carnivores
  • marsupial tarsiers
  • marsupial hedgehogs
  • Marsupial hyrax, arboreal, and aquatic

  • Pigeon, pastel parrots
  • crows
  • hummingbirds
  • Terrestrial eagle
  • Terrestrial owl

fishes:
catfishes (tadpole, crawling, scraper)
spider fish, a crawling fish with leg-shaped fins

insects:

  • giant earwig
  • giant light bug
  • cape, veil and fan butterflies

The muell tree

The tree is the most complicated to study, understand and to grow outside of Attland. The muell, or pastel tree, however, is different from all other trees in that most of the tree parts are edible, it produces four types of juices, teas, coffee, fragrance, and pastel paint. The tree can be called the tree of life.

Below the following is discussed:

  • the unique similarities to other plants
  • unique characteristics
  • morphology
  • distribution
  • growth
  • life cycle
  • cultivation
unique similarities to other plants:

Adding to the complicated nature of the tree is its similarities to others trees and plants:
  • the first (reproductive) flowers produce long, pine-cone shaped ear of seeds, which is covered by flower sepals, resembling an ear of corn on the stalk.
  • bright yellow or orange seeds located at the base of the seed cone resemble yellow kernels of corn, the seeds contained towards the tip of the cone resemble pine nuts and wheat kernels.
  • sepals from the first flowers can be eaten raw and taste like cooked artichoke.
  • Muell tree leaves resemble large grape leaves during the first 5-7 years of the tree's life, and then start to resemble mulberry leaves, except they are larger and succulent.
  • the tree trunk of a mature, pruned tree resembles an African baobab.
  • The first (reproductive) flowers resemble lilies.
  • The fruit flowers of the tree resemble roses, and sometimes asters.
  • The fruit flower soon produces a banana-looking drupe, which is always yellow (if the flower was yellow, white, or any pastel color, which is the origin for the names of the colors), or orange (if the flower was red or blue.)
  • The banana-drupe ripens to yield a sweet, semi-succulent flour mass, which can be eaten raw or baked into semi-sweet bread.
  • The tree seedlings look like fescue grass.
  • The bark of the tree resembles that of a pine, but is actually thicker and solid.
  • The tree sap tastes like birch sap or mild lemonade (for 3 to 5 year old trees), or citrus (5-10 year old trees) or muscat grape juice for older trees.
  • The first and fruit flower pollen is easily smudged, resembles a rose pollen, varying in color from tree to tree, and can be used as a pale pastel paint.
  • the first flower smells like a lily of the valley, or tulip; the fruit flower smells like a lilac.
  • The fruit flower pollen resembles a saffron spice, similar in taste and color, if the flower is orange.
  • if not harvested, the leaves ripen to their most edible state and turn yellow, the color lasting for up to 6 months, the leaves never shed, and turn green again when all first flowers on the branch started to produce seed cones and branch extensions.
  • the tree roots can be cooked and eaten, tasting like a delicious potato or Jerusalem artichoke

unique characteristics:

  • muell tree produces no growth rings.
  • muell tree first flower needs primarily hummingbirds to pollinate, due to the unique structure of a first flower; fruit flowers require any pollinator.
  • the seeds (produced by the first flowers only) can be eaten raw, just like nuts, cooked, or pressed into oil.
  • Male and female trees look almost identical, except male trees tend to be smaller than female trees, produce more first flowers, less fruit flowers, hence less fruit
  • Muell trees are dioecious, and both produce pollen, though only the male pollen can pollinate, and the female pollen is required to signal male trees to increase pollen production.
  • First flower produces pollen and seed, but not fruit;
  • Fruit flower produces pollen and fruit, but no seed.
  • First flower has sepals, which are absent in fruit flowers.
  • A muell tree continuously produces first and fruit flowers according to the cycle of their tree branch.
  • There is only one specie of the muell tree, without any other variants or cultivars that can be successfully developed.
  • The seedling grass can be pollinated either by other seedlings, or by pollen from first flowers of mature female and male trees.
  • Mature muell tree needs to pollinate its first flowers, if not pollinated, the tree will not produce new branches or leaves, but will produce one more year of fruit flowers and fruits.
  • If pollinated at its first flowering, while fruit flowers are pruned or not pollinated, the tree will not produce fruit, but will continue to grow and produce in other aspects.
  • Seedling grass can be source of nutrition for small livestock, or as a salad green.
  • If both first and fruit flowers are pruned or not pollinated, the tree will stimulate a part of its root to grow a sapling, which will mature sooner than a seedling, usually in 2-3 years, and bear fruit in its 4th year.
  • Tree bark can be used as a coffee substitute, being the closest coffee-tasting of all substitutes.
  • The first flowers produce edible petals that taste sweet, can be eaten raw, or brewed to make naturally semisweet teas.
  • The fruit flower petals are not edible raw, but are used as a spice.
  • The first flower pollen cannot perform the function of the fruit flower pollen, and vice versa.
  • There is no relationship between the petal color or pollen color of the first flower and the fruit flower on the same tree.
  • The color of flowers is defined by pollination, and is still unknown if affected by the color of the pollinating tree's genetics.
  • all of the flowers' pollen is non-allergenic, being a smooth, soft structure
  • the tree has no destructive enemies, since no insects are known to eat any part of the tree
  • the tree roots are considerably thin and strong, capable of enveloping rocks within soil, but not exerting upward pressure, or otherwise destructive, which makes them ideal for growing near paved areas.
  • the tree can live up to 100 years in low, hot, coastal areas, and to 400-600 years in higher, cool elevations.
  • the tree can yield 4 different juices: tree sap, leaf juice, first flower petal juice and fruit juice

Morphology

A muell tree is monocot and is closely related to grass, palm trees, lilies, irises and orchids. Three tree reproduces by producing firestflowers, which, after pollination, develop a seed cone.

The trunk produces flowers and fruits from woody stems (flowers are produced from tissues or buds to the inside of the bark and then subsequently emerge through it). This condition is known as cauliflorous (this is also found in Cercis canadensis, eastern redbud).

Vegetation and Agriculture of Attland

Isolated from the main continent,Attland's plants and animals have evolved into unique species to the point that some describe it as an alien paradise on Earth.

Endemic vegetation is characterized by:

  • few conifers
  • no grasses, the niche filled by the muell tree seedlings
  • great diversity of non-coniferous evergreen trees
  • great number of beech species, some similar to the New Zealand species
  • great number of mushroom, moss, and air plants
  • many evergreen trees are unique fern and horsetail species

The most notable agricultural plants and products of Attland are those that define the country's agriculture as a gourmet agriculture. These are:

  • The Balm and Iris Orchid, difloral plants unique to Attland, which produce mild mint, and lemon balm flavor vanilla
  • Coffee tree, a difloral tree
  • Muell (or Bauna), a difloral tree
  • Nectar Tree (a difloral Robinia), a source of hard wood, oil, and honey
  • Nectar lily, producing a unique flavor essence
  • Silkworm silk
  • Bush spider silk
  • aquaculture is centered on pearl oyster harvesting
The coffee and muell trees are pollinatable only in Attland, primarily by lilac bees, and hummingbirds. Muell tree can grow and reproduce only in Attland, requiring the presence of Attland's unique minerals.

The lilac bee and hummingbirds are the primary pollinators for vegetation of Attland.
  • Horsetail trees, over 20 feet tall and 1-2 feet diameter
  • Ginkgo tree
  • Pehuén or Monkey-puzzle pine (up to 7 feet in diameter, 130-240 feet tall)
  • Tree ferns
  • Flower tree, related to cycads, gingo, and tree ferns, having wide, very large gingko-like planar leaves that form a disc-like crown; in cooler areas growing over almost 200 feet tall, and almost 30-40 feet in diameter
  • Hollow tree, a difloral tree, having horizontal branches, and a 50%-75% hollow trunk.
  • Vine tree, a difloral tree, some reaching over 350ft tall, developing twisting vine-like outer parts of a trunk, and with branched roots emerging above ground in older trees, capable of having a root underwater or in dark cave, the tree's leaves shaped as a butterfly
  • Cycad tree
  • Dragon and Socotra Dragon Tree subspecies growing in the same habitat
  • Wild tree, closely related to the Australian Wollemia nobilis This bizarre-looking tree was known only from 120 million-year-old fossil leaves before 1994; fewer than one hundred exist in the wild. They have strange bark that looks like bubbles of chocolate, multiple trunks, and ferny-looking leaves growing in spirals. They can grow up to 125 feet tall.

King Yarl's favorite poetry:

Weisst du,wieviel Sternlein stehen

An dem blauen Himmelszelt?

Weisst du,wieviel Wolken gehen

Weithin ueber alle Welt?

Gott,der Herr,hat sie gezaehlet,

Dass ihm auch nicht eines fehlet

An der ganzen,grossen Zahl

Here we are immune to the financial crisis

The Attland government and the Queen must have done something right.

  • The Queen decided to take the country on a currency transition course - years ago it was from government's darlings (currency units) to a dollar-pegged 1 for 1 darling. Next year it was 1 to 1.333 ratio dollar to darling ratio. Then it was the revolutionary transition to all dollar based economy, with darling certificates guaranteeing interest on darling deposits. Next came the total surprise-right after the Queen's space mission- the transition to the gold currency.
  • The Queen's decision to have the Koborg bank conduct security backed institutional business, and creating a new business of deposit insurance for major banks, government treasuries and insurance companies.
  • The government's decision to stick to the anti-global policies of isolating national banks from the IMF and world's major banking institutions.
Using cautious, self restrained banking policy, the Attland's economy has been totally immune to the mortgage-financial-currency crisis.

The London as the capital of world money is history. The gold banking has left the treasuries of Attland and the Queen overflowing with major currencies. It is certainly the most interesting page in history to watch.

The Queen reveals new formula for setting gold price

Now I have to update the description of the Queen's method of setting the price of gold. According to her Speaker, the method can be described by a formula that has been used very recently:

Gold Price=(OGP+BDP+SMP)*1/3*Import Indicator Factor*Domestic Production Factor

wherein:
OGP Old (previous) Gold Price
BDP Buy Demand Price
SMP Spot Market Price

and I will be providing you with further clarification of this method

Recent developments in worldwide gold price were reflected in the Queen's decision to use this formula and, as a result, the price of gold has tumbled in a biggest and negative change since the gold price spike inside Attland in June 2007. Translated into troy ounce prices, Attland's domestic price for gold fell from $1045 to $940, almost a 10% plunge.

We are going sightseeing on a submarine.

Yellow submarine tour sightseeing subThe Yellow Submarine Tours has started a wide-ranging submarine tours campaign.

They are offering 2 and 3 hour tours, each descending down to 200 feet or so, to see the corals, shipwrecks and undersea scape south of Kakwoki.

According to the brochure we got upon the purchase of the trip:

Each sub has window seats for every one of its 50 plus passengers, who can view ocean through a large round window, or a huge front-facing wraparound glass. There will be a 15 minute safety lecture about the use of different emergency breathing and escape devices, the evacuation procedure and the use of the safety belt with the seat floating cushion.

Each sub has special drinks and chewing gum in case the ears need to be popped when switching between surface diesel to all-electric power once submerged. The standard crew is about seven: the captain, the co-pilot navigator, systems engineer, propulsion engineer, two attendants and a tour guide.

The price for a 2 hour tour is 2/3 of a gold crown ounce (which today means $824.04) for Captain Nemo (one of ten of the seats at the wraparound glass), and 1/2 of a gold crown, $618 today, for any other seat.

Commercial airlines start to refuel planes in flight

When I went back to work in Attland I flew United to Marlboro, on a flight that continued to Rio. This is a typical stopover that is also to ease up on the air congestion in US, and to indirectly enforce better flight safety enforcement since Attland air security standards are a lot better than American, which are hardly and efficiently enforced.

I have just heard it on English Dixiland news channel that ALFA is the first air carrier that in the middle November will start mid-air refueling on it long flights. I guess they will use dedicated tankers, like many militaries do, to actually refuel planes in flight, without passengers even knowing.

This practice is supposed to cut operating costs and travel time for passengers. I agree. How much time and money lost by having to land, wait for the refueling, taxiing, etc. They said it's being tested now. I can't wait, because on my vacation I am going back to NYC and from there fly to Australia or New Zealand, by way of ALFA, and I will try to take pictures of this in-flight refueling.

Attland's self-isolation pays off in immunity to global finance woes

All these years of Attland's self-imposed isolation are being felt - there is virtually no panic in the country's financial markets. The Stau exchange indexes are generally on the rise, and have never dipped in reaction to the Wall Street and other global money crises.

Whatever dropped was the American and Atlantic (Attland-US) companies and financial institutions.

I am going to look up the Stau index and how to feed it into the blog.

The Attland food companies, for example, are based in US, with their own farming operations, but managed, financed and listed in Attland. They never dipped, though they are the most significant of the Attland's publicly owned corporations, rivalling Oilbelt and Bargraf.

There are many institutions and funds that capitalize on the dollar-gold arbitrage, as well as other commerce between Attland-US carried out according to the Atlantic Mutual Trade Agreements (unconditional trade continuity to Attland, price guarantees to US). It is probably the best performing stock exchange medium so far. A fellow American coworker has happily informed us that she tripled her investments by sticking with US and Attland companies doing the Atlantic business.

The Government authorizes the issue of a one tenth of a Darling coin

In the previous post I myself did not understand how a price of coffee could be 0.7D, when there was only 0.5 and 0.25 coins around. I guess the royal Koborg Bank knew something and in advance authorized debiting pre-paid consumer and fuel cards in 0.1 D increments. Today's news makes it official.

I also was wondering about the price of gold interest that accumulated in thirds of darlings and crowns.

Today the government ordered its mint in Waldihask to start issuing a coin equivalent to one tenth( Dijm, pronounced like we say cream in Alabama), a third (Threidling, 1/30 of Darling) and a penny (Feonling) of a Darling. Up until now the smallest denomination coin has been a quarter of a darling.

I am already hearing gripes about the Threidling. But it is necessary, since the fractions have been accumulating on paper and haven't been capable of being paid out in cash.

See national currency chart here

All coins smaller than 1 darling are minted using the one-step high-temperature and pressure alloy strike process, wherein the proprietary mixture of nickel, copper, zinc and other metals are molecularly embedded into the major metal, making the allow resemble gold.

Since the Royal gold crown has proved to be the optimal in unit weight and value, the Government has excluded itslef from minting its own equivalents of the gold crown. To remind everyone, the crown name has no connection to other monetary units bearing the same name. The Attland's gold crown bears no image resembling a crown. The source of the name is in the crown coin being an equivalent of a 1/12 of the Queen's Gold Tiara weight (a pound, or 453.59 grams), a historical and official standard.

The Government, however, has a natural right to mint denominations in Darlings, that is 50 D and below. 100D is not minted or printed due to being denominated as a gold Tithe coin only (see below).
So far we have to buy those fashionable money pouches to carry the hefty load of 8 brass and nickel darling fractional coins, and special pouch wallets for the gold crown fractions.

This describes the Attland's currency denominations, according to the Royal gold price fix:

gold crown 1 37.799167 grams today $1,226.00, coin only
Threeden 2/3 25.19957066389 $817.37 coin only
Half 0.5 18.8995835 $613.00 coin only
Third 1 / 3 12.5984623611 $408.63 coin only
Forth 1 / 4 9.44979175 $306.50 coin only
Tithe 0.1 3.7799167 $122.60 coin only
Twelfth 1 / 12 3.14993058333333 $102.17 gold-in-silver bimetallic coin only

Darling

50 $61.30 government and Royal bill
25 $30.65 government and Royal bill
10 $12.26 government and Royal bill
5 $6.13 government bills and Royal coin
2 $2.45 government and Royal coin
1 $1.23 government and Royal coin
Half D $0.61 government and Royal coin
Quarter D $0.31 government and Royal coin
Dijm (1/10 Darling) $0.1226 government coin
Threidling (1/300 Darling) $0.037 government coin
Feonling (1/100 Darling) $0.01 government coin

Miklasgard's night markets is the time and place to shop and dine

man peddling cheap trinketsThis is the only way to legally sell trinkets in Miklasgard, in the Tokyo Gardens.

Ever since coming back to Miklasgard I have been pleasantly surpirzed by the cosmopolitan developments in the literally free market. Though strictly controlled by the Consumer watrch groups and governments agencies, the Chinese trinkets have made their way to the sleek, clean and high-quality fare of Miklasgard's shopping experience.

Though the Chinese (and more predominantly Japanese, Taiwanese and Thai) culture and goods are available, they are sold only in bulk, which means the public can find them only at the Market's Spice Alleys, and 30 minutes away by express subway, in the impressive Tokyo Gardens, stretching from Belgarhaven (Anglified as Belgravia, now deAnglified again) to Tokyotown.

These are the only placs in the world where you can buy anything that comes from the orient, but buy in bulk only: batteries, windup and any other small toys, belt buckles, nail care kits, CDROMs, and all kinds of imaginable ware you would not want to pay more than 1 or 2 Darlings. (1 Darling today is worth about $1.20, 1000 Darlings is 1 gold crown. Darling is subdivided into qusnrters only)

This is a sample of prices:

cheap comb 0.25 d.,
in bulk -10 d/pound

a pack of 10 CD Roms 3 d
or 45 d/pound

shower curtain - 1d, or 20 d/pound(?)

Pad Thai to go - 3.5d
Bul Go Ki with everything 4 d
Sushi-Sashimi in a nice Bento box to keep - 20d

A very simple explanation of the Bermuda Triangle Mystery

The Book of Laws of Attland prohibits any foreign trespassing through "waters visible from the island, or landing on the Attland island, or any of its islands visible from any island visible from Attland."

In 1299, King Vufeyr, the 13th king of Attland (1242-approx. 1339) effectively closed the country to any foreigners, also by abolishing slavery and import and trade in slaves, appended the above law to the book of Laws, and commanded that any foreign ship or a person coming to the island with intentions other than to seek help in their sailing and sustenance, to be executed.

The implementation of the law means that hundreds of ships were unconditionally warned and most often sank or burned, from 1299 to 1771. The pirate bases on Marlborough archipelago that is now the city of the same name, were a loophole wherein the pirates paid rent for the use of the islands as an "exchange of bartered cargo and storehouses of fresh water."

The law was implemented in 1812 when the Britain's Caribbean Fleet of more than 30 ships was burned and sank about 100 miles northeast of Attland while sailing to reaffirm the Britain's right to have its warships replenish and refit in the Marlborough port, which by then was long rid of pirates, owing to the efforts of a "27th King of Attland."

As late as 1920s there have been reports of ships missing or adrift in the area, while the Attland Navy never reported to any media organization each incident of enforcing the Foreign Trespass Law.

Diamonds and Gold are traded against the letter of the law but it is OK

I asked someone at work, how come if Attland's Book of Laws says that "no stone or earth is to be taken out of the land", the trade in gold and diamonds is allowed to break the law?

I was pointed to the Queen's opinion and ruling that gold and diamond are not a precious gem that is exclusive to Attland, and, furthermore, considering the trade imbalance, the equal or higher amount of gold and diamonds may be entering the country, negating the possibility of the depletion of riches that the law was written to prevent.

How the gold price is set

Since the Koborg Bank is the Attland's official central bank (the government treasury does not engage in printing or coining most of the country's money), and the gold standard introduced in May 2007 means that the amount of money issued depends on the price of gold, one would think that the financial situation of the island nation would fluctuate with the ups and downs of gold.

On the contrary, however. The price of troy ounce hovers just about $1000, while elsewhere in the world it has dipped to $756.70 today.

The price disparity, discussed previously, depends more on how the gold price is set, and the procedure is by no means dependent on the spot market or the London fix.

The Queen holds a weekly, or if a world commodity situation requires, a daily meeting on the gold price wherein she and undisclosed experts examine the amount of gold having been brought into the island within the past 12 hours, the amount of gold purchased from the island gold mine industry, and the balance sheet of the Koborg Bank gold account with the retail banks and other institutions.

Since the amount of gold is always in deficit, supported by minimal credit debt incurred by institutions and the public, the price of gold naturally will be significantly higher than the world spot market. See chart.

Putin imitates the Chancellor but does not kill the wildlife

Putin must be really irked by Chancellor Dolgrynd - not to be outdone, in light of the chancellor's publicized Gibraltar monkey shoot. There was a lot of negative publicity, but Chancellor Dolgrynd brushed it off, leaving his press secretary to describe the shoot as a convenient opportunity for target practice.

Putin, I heard, staged an event where he was conveniently armed with a tranquilizer gun while showing media around a mature reserve, while a tiger conveniently escaped, to be conveniently tranquilized by Putin.

How the Koborg Bank became the alternative to the National Treasury

While I was gone, the following developments took place between Queen's Koborg Bank and the National Government.

Sometime in 2002 it was decided to fuse National Mail Service with the K0borg Bank, resulting in the National Mail and Bank.

Then there was the splitting of the Koborg Bank into Attland Insured Bank and an International Deposit Funds, with the minimal deposit of $100,000, and subsequently $1 million.

Then there was the reorganizing of the International Deposit Bank into Capital Fund, and developing two distinct services: Deposit Securities, and International Securities.

The Capital Fund grew and together with the National Treasury obtains unlimited trust from the US Reserve to purchase on request any amount of US currency for circulation in Attland.

The Capital Fund is given the right to print the National currency, which soon has been replaced with the US Dollar as the national fiat currency.

Kingstad royal estate territories (which are located inside the city of Miklasgard) have used the gold standard darling since King Yarl's return and reconstruction in 1973.

Snapshots of consumer prices and salaries

Ever since I moved to Attland for the second time, I have kept track of the gold price, since last year's conversion to the gold standard, and, most importantly, the disparity of gold prices in and outside Attland.

Right now the gold price is sky high, and many business profit by bringing gold into the country in lieu, or bartering for diamonds, etc.

A little while ago a spokesman for the queen was asked what contingency plans spell out in case the gold falls below that of the London fix price, or, falls to an all-time low world prices. He said that just as Queen carefully prepared for the darling-to-dollar-to-gold transition, the contingency plans also envision the possibility for the gold to dip, which is highly unlikely.

Meanwhile, here are the prices for consumer items, in Darlings, 1000 of which now equal 1 Crown (Royal pound coin), or 37.75 grams. This makes 1 D= US$0.99 (see table):

gallon of milk 2.0 D
12 oz can of flavored soda water 0.7 D
10 miles on Miklasborg train 1D
gallon of gasoline, Attland synthetic Synol 0.5D
rent on 2000 sq. ft apartment in residential, non-central area of Belgerhaven 2 Cr 600D
a sushi lunch pack - 5D
cup of coffee from a vending machine 0.7D
cup of coffee at a gourmet cafe 2D

Meanwhile the economy keeps expanding. See this post on this trend. The shortage of labor can be illustrated this way:

hourly rate for a MacDonald counter clerk 23D
street sanitation worker salary per year 24,000D
intake recycling center worker, per year 34,000D
recycling plant worker, per year 40,000D

Attland calendar and its holidays

The names of Attland months are closely related to Old Norse and Icelandic calendar, but timed with Hebrew calendar:

Haustmánuður, equivalent to Tishri, "autumn month"

Gormánuður, equivalent to Cheshvan, "slaughter month" or "Gór's month"

Ýlir, equivalent to Kislev, "Yule month"

Mörsugur, equivalent to Tevet, "fat sucking month"

Þorri, equivalent to Shevat, "frozen snow month"

Góa, equivalent to Adar, "Góa's month,

Einmánuður (mid March - mid April, "lone" or "single month")

Nissan, exactly Hebrew Nisan (Harpa, a female name, probably a forgotten goddess, first day of Harpa is celebrated by Norse as Sumardagurinn fyrsti, first day of summer. Attland custom is to avoid using and giving women names that contain the sound R)

Ijar, is exactly Hebrew Iyar, (Skerpla until 1300's, another forgotten goddess)

Sivan , exactly as the Hebrew month, or Sólmánuður "sun month"

Heyannir, equivalent to Tammuz, "hay business month"

Tvímánuður, equivalent to Av, "two" or "second month"

Another decoy as used in the Operation FLIGHT HOME

in February 2008 Chancellor Dolgrynd had ordered a final evacuation and closure of the Sorong Military Base carried out as an Operation FLIGHT HOME. Three weeks later the world was treated to footage of Attland's Naval Engineering Battalions demolishing the base infrastructure that was impossible to disassemble. The demolition turned out also to involve the target practice operations by the Air Force, Naval Aviation and Naval missile and gun firing. The use of electron cascade bombs, super heavy aerial bombs, missiles and gun projectiles shook the nearby villages and left the base a post-apocalyptic landscape. Some of the steel structures were heated by fires long enough that they caught fire that was visible from space and for 50 miles away at night. Its steel burning effects has been studied by scientists.

International community criticized the demolition as a selfish act, that aimed to leave nothing to Indonesians living nearby, who might have benefited minimally from salvaging scrap iron and construction materials, and, instead, leaving the area as an impassable, scarred land unsuitable for for farming or vegetation.

Apparently as another media attention decoy, Chancellor Dolgrynd used this operation to draw seemingly unwanted attention and criticism in order to pursue a larger operation, just as he had masterminded by using the capture of Gibraltar, albeit a very useful location, in order to really capture Cyprus.

The total naval force sailing from Sorong, having exercised, true to their military discipline, almost to the last day, has rounded the South African capes full speed, having timed their passing of Namibia around 3 am local time. At dawn, Namibia woke up to the sound of military trucks and tanks roaming their streets and a totally new order in effect throughout the country.

The beginnings of Wolf Dolgrynd, the stealth chancellor

Until the Day of Victories, which also serves as a Armed Forces Day, Attland was governed by a rotating provisional chancellors, most of whom were of little fame as they came and went.

Suddenly, following the perfect weather of the January holiday, the news had ot that a totally unknown man was pronounced to head the government.

Little was disclosed to the media about his background. What was noticeable was his precise military bearing.

He conducted press briefings in a distinctly concise and abrupt, though relaxed, almost aloof manner. Later in March 2006 he announced the Miklasgard's absorbing Maunby, Carolinga, Pyrsborg and Kayokee, and that was when public became aware that he was married to two women. When the media's probed him with questions of his marital status, and asked rhetorical questions about his feelings of being referred to as practicing bigamy, he exercised an utmost self-control and diplomatic avoidance.

Media soon found out his extremely short resume which mention his military service as a senior officer in the military's Budget Comptroller and the Accounting Command. Most pople thought nothing more of the quiet, youngish chancellor, other than a man dividing his time between running a government and spending time with his wives and at least three children.

Just after the announcement that one of his wives had given birth to a baby boy, the world woke up on April 10, to learn that Attland military carried out the Operation PRINCE PAWN, capturing Gibraltar within 6 hours, with no casualties on Attland side, with over 100 British military and citizen dead. Attland's colors hoisted, permanent military territory and martial law was proclaimed; and talks with Spain started regarding limited Spanish rule. The operation has has also been used a decoy for the operation WEST SPORTS, though Gibraltar was a major choke point on the straights, as well as a communications and electronic surveillance center.

Diplomatic relations with most countries were strained, especially after maintaining a military stance that resulted in a destruction of 19 of 20 jet fighters that British Air Force sent to counter Attland military. Britain quickly abandoned the idea, since Attland deployed an aircraft carrier, 2 battleships, 10 cruisers, over 20 destroyers, almost a hundred patrol craft, and a landing force of unknown size. The surprise loss of the British outpost has deeply weakened Tony Blair political status.

Using the PRICE PAWN as a convenient and useful decoy, the Attland military feigned the relaxation of the military tensions by sending the naval force at Gibraltar home, while a new, relief naval task force seemed to sail for Gibraltar by way of Suez Canal, and having been formed from ships already in the Mediterranean that seemed to provide support to Israel Navy.

On April 20, however, Operation WEST SPORTS entailed a surprise landing on Cyprus, capture of the island within a day, and total cessation of operations in seven days. Under 5 Attland dead; over 1,000 dead including British military, Cypriot and foreign nationals. Martial law, and limited Turkish Cypriot administration installed.

The Echelon electronic listening post on the island had been captured, the British force arrested, though not taken POW, US military personnel shortly detained and flown to a US military base in Turkey. Britain's military prowess and capability has shown its uselessness. The success and speed of operation also precluded journalists from reacting and deploying to the area.

Government stays away from Caucasus

well, with the Maarheinigt troops that once have been to Chechnya, are sure doing everything else but being useful in the Russian-Georgian war. The decision of the Attland government firmly asserted that the national interests by a stretch do not even come close to Georgia. There is no rationalized need to influence either way the price of oil, financing in either of the involved countries, or any capital investment in Russia itself.

The President is busy meeting with the IMF and major world banks to stave off the international pressure to ease interests on dollar and gold trading that sees major dealing currencies pouring into Attland.

Operation Mountain Doglfy: The president evicts YMCAs, mosques and monasteries

Early morning May 23, about 4:20 am, some northern communities of Morau and Slauttblau might have gotten woken up by a distant, but powerful roar of helicopters. There were, in fact, calls ot the local precincts of Morau police asking if there was an exercise or an invasion. Police did not know.

Using the fact that the Queen signed and confirmed the Supreme Court Council opinion that churches, mosques and similar religious institutions have no legal right to remain on Attland soil, on his way home from a long day's work, 8:20 pm on May 22, President Wolf Dolgrynd signed an executive order to evict all the institutions that did not get excluded from the authority of the Violent and Subversive Organizations Act.

Anyone in the Emerald Valley listening to the farmer's report might have heard the news anchor suddenly switched into an upbeat tone, as if delivering a joke, rare for radio, and make a very brief announcement that the Mountain Dogfly season has started. There are no such dragonflies known to Attlanders, or the resident of the north.

This was a backup call to start the operation MOUNTAIN DOGFLY.

Over 50 monasteries scattered throughout the mountains in the north, mainly overlooking the luxuriantly fertile Dale Blomma, 3 churches in the northern Slauttblau and 2 mosques already shut down and sealed, along with 5 YMCA centers in Newstad and Latalla, some over a year ago when the VSO act was signed, became a landing zone for jack-booted assault troops rappelling down the ropes from the helicopters, some of them also lowering dogs.

Witnesses say dogs were the leaders. In what must have been a well-rehearsed operation, the troops entered monasteries, literally dragging sleepy monks and nuns into the courtyards, to be guarded by the Attland's famous war hounds, while tracking bulls ran door to door, room to room sniffing for anything secreted away. The operation was over before the first reports started to reach the public media. By 9 am, when the French, Italian and Russian governments called the Chief Counsellor and the Secretary of State, he asserted that there was no military operations against any monastery going on, and he was right.

Some monasteries were also dispatched with heavy earth moving tractors, which started demolishing the structures. Some monasteries were emptied of their religious residents, and the military authorities started to investigate literally with a fine tooth comb.

This is how a Russian priest was arrested after a modern short wave set and computerized coding equipment was found in his meditation room. Many nuns, homeless, hiked down the mountains to the railroad stations from where they reached Morau, and then Marlborough, staying at former YMCAs that were ordered to shut down and open their hostels as business enterprise.

The government spokesman has reported that several monasteries were in possession of historical artifacts and items of pilfered cultural heritage belonging to Attland. Towards the evening, there were seen noisy concrete grinding machines grinding the demolished structures to gravel. The next morning a congested traffic of gravel trucks was seen snaking from the mountains to the seashores, for the ongoing landfill expansion programs, and some of the gravel were seen to be trucked to the highway repair sites in the north.

Many crosses and church attributes were found to be of solid gold, and were sent to the major museums.
