Kingstad University produces a viable, genetically engineered organism

2007 June – Kingstad University announced the successful development of a viable, genetically engineered and autonomously replicating new species of a protozoan, Euglena Suogenaris.

Alleviating any fears of the general public, the head scientist of the project said that the new organism is highly sensitive to specific food it required, and therefore, is not capable of multiplying wildly if allowed to escape into environment.
